The Asia Pacific Institute of Money and Entrepreneurship Development (IMED) recently signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA), to work collaboratively in the field of Entrepreneurship Development and Financial Literacy education.

IMED is the only independent institution in Sri Lanka dedicated to entrepreneurship development and financial literacy education across all segments in the society. As such IMED is willing to collaborate with the key stakeholders in the entrepreneurial ecosystem. National Enterprise Development Authority was established under the National Enterprise Development Authority Act No: 17 of 2000, to promote, support, encourage and facilitate enterprise development within Sri Lanka with special emphasis to the small and medium enterprise sector of the country.

In addition to the MoU, another agreement was signed between the parties to onboard IMED as a knowledge partner to the SME Connect online platform. The two institutions joined hands to commemorate the Global Entrepreneurship Week together with CA Sri Lanka SME Taskforce and other collaborative partners in the second week of November and three events were held on November 14 , 16 and 18 in Colombo, Galle and Kandy respectively with the aim of improving Financial Literacy of MSMEs. The keynote speech of the Inaugural event was delivered by the Founder/President of IMED Chaaminda Kumarasiri and the keynote speech of the Galle event was delivered by an advisory council member of IMED and the Chairman/MD of Mega Heaters (Pvt) Ltd. Upali Jayasekara.
