The First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, Geetha Gopinath appreciated the progress made by Sri Lanka and assured the IMF’s full support for Sri Lanka to restore the debt sustainability during a meeting had with the State Minister of Finance, Shehan Semasinghe.
Also the attention paid to the ongoing work in Sri Lanka regarding the anti corruption measures and other preventive methods. Meanwhile, another meeting with Robert Kaproth, the Deputy Assistant Secretary of the US Treasury and Semasinghe was held to discuss the progress of the ongoing economic reforms in Sri Lanka and the recent steps taken to ensure good governance.
Further, the attention was drawn to the IMF program and the debt restructuring process and also the Minister mentioned that it is a matter of satisfaction that the United States will continue to support Sri Lanka.
