Four killed in  Oklahoma shooting

 

US: Four people were killed, including a gunman, and multiple others were wounded in a shooting on Wednesday on a hospital campus in Tulsa, Oklahoma, police said.

Police received a call about a man with a rifle on the second floor of a building on the medical campus and that “it turned into an active shooter situation”.

Four killed in  southwest China quakes

CHINA: At least four people are dead and 14 others injured after two earthquakes hit southwestern China on Wednesday, state media reported.

A shallow 6.1-magnitude quake hit a sparsely populated area in Sichuan province about 100 kilometres (60 miles) west of provincial capital Chengdu, broadcaster CCTV said. It was followed three minutes later by a second quake of magnitude 4.5 in a nearby county where the deaths and injuries occurred, according to CCTV.

‘Spiderman’  fined for flouting  COVID rules

 

SINGAPORE: An Indian-origin man in Singapore was fined 4,000 Singaporean dollars for flouting COVID-19 guidelines during New Year celebrations last year, according to a media report. Kotra Venkata Sai Rohankrishna, 19, pleaded guilty to two charges of breaching COVID-19 safe management measures for having dressed in a Spiderman costume on a riverside at a New Year’s Eve party.

Kotra was part of a group of nine celebrating the New Year, despite being not allowed to gather in groups larger than five.

Ukraine losing up to 100 soldiers everyday in war – Zelensky

 

UKRAINE: Between 60 and 100 Ukrainian soldiers are dying on the battlefield every day, and another 500 wounded, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky told US newsgroup Newsmax in an interview released Wednesday. The Ukrainian Government estimated last week that the Russians have lost more than 30,000 soldiers since beginning their invasion on February 24.

Indus water talks  conclude on  a positive note

 

INDIA: Amid reports of back-channel talks to break the stalemate in the bilateral relationship, India and Pakistan concluded a two-day meeting of the Permanent Indus Commission (PIC) comprising Indus Commissioners of the two countries in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The Indian delegation at the 118th meeting of the PIC was led by A.K. Pal, the Indian Commissioner for Indus Waters, while the visiting Pakistani delegation was headed by Syed Muhammad Mehar Ali Shah, the Pakistan Commissioner for Indus Waters.

Man sets new  Bungee Jumping world record

 

UK: A man from France has set a new world record for most number of bungee jumps in 24 hours. Francois-Marie Dibon started his quest at 10am on Tuesday, and concluded 10am (Scotland time) on Wednesday on the Highland Fling Bungee platform at Garry Bridge in Perthshire.

According to The Guardian, Dibon, 44, made 765 jumps in the said time period, beating the previous record set by New Zealand’s Mike Heard, who completed 430 jumps at Auckland Harbour Bridge in 2017.

Joanne Brent, the Guinness World Records judge who verified the record, said Dibon’s effort was “inspiring”, as per The Guardian report.
