Inclement weather causes power interruptions to over 300,000 consumers
Due to inclement weather, the Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has reported over 36,900 breakdowns resulting in power interruptions to more than 300,000 consumers throughout the country in the last three days.
Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijesekera said that additional service staff, apart from the general staff, have been assigned to attend to the breakdowns.
According to him the CEB management and service staff are working 24 hours to restore power supply promptly to the affected consumers owing to the inclement weather.
Meanwhile, the Minister pointed out that if the consumers are unable to report power interruptions through the CEB hotline 1987, they can use the SMS option. An SMS can be sent to 1987 with breakdown (BD) entering the electricity consumer number. Besides, consumers can place a complaint by using the CEB Care app or logging into http://cebcare.ceb.lk.
