Include Ranil in National Economic Council – UNP

The United National Party (UNP) says leader Ranil Wickremesinghe should be included in the National Economic Council recently appointed by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Speaking to media while taking part in a UNP membership promotion programme at Dehiwela and Ratmalana on Saturday, UNP Chairman Vajira Abeywardena said the government should use Wickremesinghe’s vast experience and knowledge to come out from the current economic crisis.

Abeywardene said Wickremesinghe had predicted the country would face a severe economic crisis one year back and added that the UNP leader had urged the government several times to seek help from the IMF to mitigate the effects of the current crisis.
