The final decision regarding the candidate who will be supported by the alliance of 10 independent parties at the Parliamentary election to elect the successor to the President will be made today (19) in Parliament.
After the submission of nominations related to the selection of the new President, a meeting between the leaders of these 10 parties is scheduled to be held in Parliament, where a final agreement is to be reached regarding the candidate who will be supported by the 10 parties. Meanwhile, yesterday (17) a meeting was held between the leaders of the 10 parties and Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa in Colombo. The party leaders asked Premadasa about the plans to manage the current economic crisis in the country if the Opposition Leader is elected as the President.
