The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) will host its 2023 Convention in Colombo, Sri Lanka from July 6-9. The Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau (SLTPB) has extended the invitation for this event. The 67th Convention and Exhibition will be held in partnership with the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators (SLAITO).

The TAAI Convention is known for significantly boosting tourist numbers in the host destination, as TAAI members act as ambassadors of tourism. This year’s Convention, themed “Transcending Borders, Transforming Lives,” aims to promote regional tourism and position Sri Lanka as a preferred destination for Indian outbound travelers, according to an SLTPB spokesperson.

The convention will commence with an opening ceremony at the BMICH, with President Ranil Wickremesinghe as the chief guest and Minister of Tourism and Lands Harin Fernando as the guest of honor. The business sessions and buyer-seller meet mart will take place over two days at the Cinnamon Grand and Shangri-La Colombo. On the second day, a Sri Lankan-themed dinner will be held at the Temple Trees, attended by Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena. The closing dinner will be hosted at the Heritance Negombo.

Following the convention, SLAITO member companies will organize post-convention tours to popular destinations such as Bentota, Galle, and Kandy. TAAI has partnered with four airlines, including SriLankan Airlines, Air India, IndiGo, and Vistara, for the convention in Colombo.

The TAAI Convention is a highly anticipated event in the travel and tourism industry, offering immense visibility for TAAL on a global scale. Around 500 delegates are expected to attend.
