Indonesia, Sri L to launch negotiations for BTA

Indonesia and Sri Lanka will launch negotiations for a bilateral trade agreement (BTA). This was revealed by Indonesia Ambassador to Sri Lanka, Dewi Gustina Tobing at the bilateral trade and investment discussion between Sri Lanka and Indonesia, organized by the National Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (NCCSL) held at National Chambers Auditorium yesterday.

Also she mentioned the importance of working together to increase bilateral trade between the two countries. Furthermore, Prof. Jayanath Colombage, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Indonesia & ASEAN, and Heshani Kaushalya, Second Secretary (Commercial) connected virtually. Colombage addressed the gathering and provided an overview of the market conditions and potential sectors to captivate in Indonesia during the bilateral session.

Dewi Gustina Tobing, Ambassador of Indonesia to Sri Lanka made a presentation on ‘current status of bilateral trade, potential market opportunities in Indonesia’, elaborating the need for strengthening economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Indonesia valuable information on trade, investment and opportunities for export and import were discussed during the event. The participants were able to freely interact with the Indonesian Ambassador for Sri Lanka, and her officials and discuss possibilities with regard to trade and investments in Indonesia.

The National Chamber intends to conduct follow up sessions with the intention of developing business connections between the two countries.
