Induma Sandamini – a rising star in Girls Football

Induma Sandamini Dissanayake, studying in grade eight at Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala was adjudged as the Best Player at the recently concluded Samaposha under 14 Girls all Island football Championship 2023.

She started her Football career last year( 2022 ) at the age of 12 years. In the same year, she was selected as the Vice Captain of the Malyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala, under 12 team, where they were placed 3rd in the district of Kurunegala.

In this year ( 2023 ), she was selected to represent the under 14 Girls team, where she showcase her talents by scoring a goal against Kavasigamuwa MV. Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala winnining this game, emerged as Champions in the district of Kurunegala, got qualified for the all Island knockout stage, which was held on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th at the Municipal Council ground, Dambulla.

In their qualifying round matches played, they won all their matches and was set to meet Vileyaya MV, Polonnaruwa in the final to be played at the Race Course ground, Reid Avenue, Colombo-07 on 30 of July 2023.

At the final against Vileyaya MV, Polonnaruwa her immense contribution, scoring 4 goals, including a hat trick was an outstanding achievement by this young lass, which saw her School, Maliyadeva Balika Vidyalaya, Kurunegala emerging as Champions at the Samaposha Girls under 14 all Island football Championship for the year 2023.
