Infant among three killed in road crash

Three people, including an infant, were killed in a head-on collision between a three-wheeler and a jeep on the Medawachchiya-Kebithigollewa road in Gonamariyawa on Thursday (27).

The victims were a 49-year-old woman from Padavi Sri Pura, her 26-year-old daughter and the daughter’s infant. They were travelling to the Anuradhapura Teaching Hospital when the accident occurred.

The 31-year-old three-wheeler driver was seriously injured and admitted to Kebithigollewa Base Hospital.

Kebithigollewa Police have arrested the driver of the jeep in connection with the accident. (Newswire)
