The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Kamorta arrived at the port of Trincomalee on a formal visit this morning (20th June 2024). The visiting ship was welcomed by the Sri Lanka Navy in compliance with naval traditions.
The INS Kamorta, measuring 109.2 meters in length and crewed by 390 personnel, is under the command of Captain Shiraz Huzain Azad.
Meanwhile, the Captain of the ship called on the Commander Eastern Naval Area, Rear Admiral Kanchana Banagoda at the Eastern Naval Command Headquarters today. During the ship’s stay in Trincomalee, its crew members are expected to visit some of the tourist attractions in the country.
Additionally, the ship will welcome school children for a ship visit. Alongside this, the crew of INS Kamorta will participate in events such as a yoga programme in observance of the International Day of Yoga and a beach cleaning initiative.
Concluding the visit, INS Kamorta will depart the island on 23rd June. Upon departure, the ship will engage in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with a Sri Lanka Navy ship in the eastern waters.
