INSEE Cement wins Silver and Bronze at Green Industry Awards
INSEE Cement, one of Sri Lanka’s leading and integrated local cement manufacturer, announced its recent achievements at the Green Industry Awards 2024.
INSEE Cement was honoured with a Silver Award for Low Carbon and Climate-Resilient Production and a Bronze Award for Corporate Social Responsibility and Responsible Production.
These awards were presented by the Industrial Development Board during the 1st International Symposium on Green Industry Initiatives for Sustainable Industrial Development, held at BMICH on June 23.
INSEE Cement’s Chief Executive Officer Jan stated; “At INSEE Cement, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. These awards validate our efforts in promoting environmentally friendly practices and responsible corporate citizenship.”
Guided by the goal-oriented INSEE Sustainability Ambition 2030, the company’s commitment to sustainability revolves around three fundamental pillars: climate and energy, biodiversity and water conservation and the circular economy.
These pillars are interwoven with the themes of zero harm for people and active community and stakeholder engagement, forming a comprehensive environmental, social and governance framework that guides the company’s efforts.
The Silver Award recognises INSEE Cement’s pioneering efforts in advancing low-carbon and climate-resilient production practices within the construction industry. This accolade underscores INSEE’s commitment to reducing carbon footprints by taking pivotal steps such as introducing low-carbon, high-performance Portland Composite Cement (PCC) – Blended Cement to the Sri Lankan market.
These initiatives significantly reduce INSEE Cement’s environmental impact and promote sustainable manufacturing processes including optimizing thermal and electrical energy consumption, reducing fossil fuel use, and integrating recycled minerals into production through industry symbiosis. These innovations are driven by substantial investments in research and development, prominently showcased at the state-of-the-art INSEE innovation to industry (i2i) Collaboration Space, the only one of its kind in Asia.
