Inter district schools Hockey from today

Inter district combined schools Hockey under 20 tournament will be held from today (26) to 29 at Hindu College grounds, Matale. This is the 56th edition of this tournament.

According to the Secretary of Sri Lanka schools Hockey Association Anuruddha Herath Bandara, 23 schools both boys and girls will compete this four day event which approved by the Education Ministry and Sri Lanka Schools Sports Council. Sri Lanka Schools Hockey Association conduct this tournament as their key event of the calender while several national senior and junior team players are expected to take part this event.

The talent search program also will conduct by the Schools Hockey Association and they are hope to form National schools pool from talented players. Colombo, Matale, Kandy, Chilaw, Galle and Polonnaruwa school teams will compete while boys and girls teams divided into two groups will battle at the league round. This competition is the sixth tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Hockey new administration headed by Shashikala Senadeera the Principal of Mahamaya Balika Kandy (D.R)
