Interim injunction against removal of Nimal Siripala from his official positions at SLFP
The Civil Appellate High Court of the Western Province has today (01 March) issued an interim restraining order against Sri Lanka Freedom Party Chairman former President Maithripala Sirisena and Party Secretary General Dayasiri Jayasekara.
Interim order was issued preventing the removal of Nimal Siripala de Silva from his positions in the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.
The leader of the party, Mr. Maithripala Sirisena, had decided to remove Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva from the position of Senior Vice-President of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party and other positions held by him. Mr. Nimal Siripala de Silva submitted filed a case in the Colombo District Court and asked for an interim injunction against the Maithripala Sirisena’s decision. Court rejected the application for an interim injunction and set a date for the case.
Nimal Siripala appealed this decision at the Civil Appellate High Court and the court allowed the appeal and issued an interim injunction against Maithripala Sirisena and Dayasiri Jayasekara.
