‘Invest Sri Lanka’ Investor Forum ends successfully in Chennai

Chennai: The first “Invest Sri Lanka” Investor Forum in Chennai India organized by the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) successfully concluded yesterday at the Taj Coromandel Hotel with positive sentiments from Indian portfolio investors in partnership with Stock Broker Firms. CSE CEO, Rajeeva Bandaranaike said that they organized this event to promote foreign portfolio investment into the Sri Lankan Stock Market by showcasing investment opportunities in leading Sri Lankan listed companies.

“Today India While being the number one tourism source market for Sri Lanka, also maintains close cooperation between the two countries. Due to this, a lot of FDI too is coming from India and we also see opportunities in showcasing investment opportunities in leading Sri Lankan listed companies and wooing Indian portfolio investments into the Sri Lankan Capital Market.

We also selected India as their government has relaxed regulations for capital market investors to invest overseas. With the two forums we expect the Investment flow from India which is now low to increase. As we needed an equitable partner to attract the target audience we tied up with the Confederation of the Indian Industry (CII).

Business is also thriving in Chennai and Tamil Nadu also has close connections with Sri Lanka and this is the reason to host the first event here. We selected to host the second inventor forum in Mumbai to be held on August 11 at Taj Lands End Hotel, because it’s the main business district and also the Indian Stock Exchange (BSE) which is one of the world’s largest stock exchanges by market capitalization is also stationed there.”

Vice Chairman, Confederation of Indian Industries Tamil Nadu State Council and Managing Director, Wheels India Ltd made the welcome speech.

BSE, established in 1875 by cotton merchant Premchand Roychand, is the oldest stock exchange in Asia and also the tenth oldest in the world.
