IOM Sri Lanka launches short film competition

Every year, World Day against Trafficking in Persons is commemorated on July 30 to raise awareness of the plight of victims of human trafficking and promote and protect their rights.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) – the leading UN Migration entity has played a pivotal role in the counter tTrafficking sphere in Sri Lanka for more than a decade. IOM plays a crucial role in preventing human trafficking, assisting victims and providing technical support to the relevant state actors to effectively respond to the crime.

In commemoration of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons, IOM cordially invites the public to take part in the short film competition titled Human Trafficking in Sri Lanka.

The three themes of the competition are trafficking for sexual exploitation, trafficking for forced labour and child trafficking. The expected duration of the short film is five to 10 minutes and can be in Sinhala, Tamil or English.

The top three winners will receive cash prizes and the best five short films will be displayed in a Colombo cinema hall ahead of the World Day against Trafficking in Persons 2024.
