IP under probe over threat to woman to abort foetus
The Colombo Children and Women’s Bureau reported to Colombo Additional Magistrate T. N. L. Ilangasinghe yesterday (15)
that investigations are being conducted to arrest a Inspector of the Katunayake Police who threatened a woman who had been having an affair with him to abort her foetus.
The Children and Women’s Bureau stated that an investigation has been initiated into the incident, and sought an order from Court to obtain a data report from the telephone company on which the threat was made.
It was revealed before Court that this woman had met the Inspector while he was on traffic duty and that she was the owner of a salon. The complainant informed the Children and Women’s Bureau that she became pregnant as a result of a love affair of theirs and then this Inspector threatened her over the phone to have an abortion.
According to this complaint, the Children and Women’s Bureau, which has started the investigation, requested Court to issue an order to the relevant telephone company to provide the Police with a call data report related to the phone that made phone calls to the complainant.
After considering the relevant matters, the Magistrate issued orders to the relevant telephone Company to provide the call records.
