IRCSL in collaboration with Int’l Finance Corporation completes workshop on Gender Sensitivity Awarness
The Insurance Regulatory Commission of Sri Lanka (IRCSL), in collaboration with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), completed a workshop on Gender-Sensitivity Awareness for the staff of IRCSL on September 12.
This strategic partnership aims to promote women’s insurance market and accelerate women’s financial inclusion, gender diversity and gender equality in Sri Lanka’s insurance sector.
To achieve this objective, the IFC intends to conduct a series of workshops for IRCSL staff, industry associations and senior leaders of insurance firms to enable insurance industry stakeholders to build their capacity on gender and inclusive insurance and promote women’s participation in the insurance industry.
The first workshop was conducted for senior management and executive staff of IRCSL, with the following key objectives:
Establish the women’s insurance business case as customers and employees. Increase awareness of gender dynamics to reduce unconscious bias in the workplace. Provide key actions for IRCSL to support and encourage transformational change within the industry to harness women’s insurance potential.
The awareness session focused on gender-sensitive strategies, global best practices, the importance of the collection and use of sex-disaggregated insurance data to track progress, women-centric insurance product development,.
The workshop was conducted by Global Women’s Insurance Experts of IFC, Fatou Giwa, Senior Operations Officer and Global Programme Lead, IFC Women’s Insurance Programme, IFC Nigeria, Prapti Sherchan, IFC Women’s Insurance Program Officer, IFC India, Looie Lobregat, Gender Sensitivity Training Specialist, IFC Philippines and Aarthy Arunasalam, Operations Officer, IFC Sri Lanka.
