Island Tea Co. & Ceylon Coffee Club signs master franchise for 100 Lankan branches

Ceylanka Trading Inc., the owner and operator of “Island Tea Co.” and “Ceylon Coffee Club,” has taken a significant step forward by signing a Master Franchise Agreement for Sri Lanka with Silk Five Limited, a company based in Sri Lanka. The agreement aims to establish 100 new branches across the country within the next five years, marking a strong presence for the retail chain in Sri Lanka.

Ceylanka Trading Inc. has already established a successful network of over 140 Pure Ceylon Tea & Coffee cafes in the Philippines, Dubai, and Sri Lanka. They also have plans to expand their reach to India and Ireland in the 3rd and 4th quarters of 2023.

The collaboration between Ceylanka Trading Inc. and Silk Five Limited has already led to the opening of their first branch in Sri Lanka on May 4, 2023.

Their ambitious expansion plan aims to open 20 branches per year in the Western Province and other key cities and provinces in Sri Lanka.

Silk Five Limited’s representative, Dr. Chinthaka Prasad, expressed their desire to open 5 or 6 additional branches within 2023, focusing on areas such as Colombo, Kandy, Negombo, and Ella.

The retail chain plans to open their second branch at the Colombo City Center, a premier lifestyle mall in Sri Lanka, by September 2023.

“Island Tea Co.” and “Ceylon Coffee Club” will offer an extensive range of over 100 beverage options, including Iced Milk Teas, Fruit Teas, Cream Cheese Milk Teas, Brown Sugar Teas, Iced Cream Tea Shakes, along with a selection of lattes, iced drinks, and frappes for coffee enthusiasts. All their beverages will be exclusively made from Pure Ceylon Tea & Coffee Beans, creating unique and globally popular recipes.

According to Dr. Asela Panditha from Silk Five Limited, the offerings by “Island Tea Co.” and “Ceylon Coffee Club” will be one-of-a-kind in the Sri Lankan market, setting them apart from other retail players.

The expansion plan not only promises an exciting beverage experience for tea and coffee lovers in Sri Lanka but also aims to generate job opportunities and provide vocational training and international certification to aspiring individuals.
