ITAK seeks US, Indian assistance to save Anojan

Ilankai Tamil Arasu Katchi (ITAK) parliamentarians have met with top Indian and US diplomats in Colombo to seek immediate intervention to save Sivarasa Anojan, a Sri Lankan national currently facing the death penalty in Saudi Arabia.

The delegation, led by ITAK Parliamentary Group Leader Shanakiyan Rasamanickam, met separately with Indian High Commissioner Santosh Jha and Political and Economic Counsellor at the U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka, Anthony V. Pirnot, following a decision taken by the party’s parliamentary group.

During the briefings, the parliamentarians presented details of Anojan’s case on behalf of his family and urged both nations to explore diplomatic avenues and engage relevant authorities to secure his release.
