IUBF Convener monk booked for violating bail conditions

Colombo Chief Magistrate Prasanna Alwis issued a notice yesterday (11) informing the Inter-University Bhikkhu Federation (IUBF) Convener, Ven. Galweva Siridhamma Thera, to appear before Court on September 23 to show cause regarding the violation of Court orders.

The Colombo Terrorist Investigation Unit submitted a motion to court and reported that the monk had violated the order to report to the Colombo Terrorist Investigation Division every two months, which is a bail condition imposed by court when he was granted bail.

Siridhamma Thera was released previously too on bail after appearing before the court after issuing a notice for violating the court order.

Galweva Siridhamma Thera who was required to report to the Colombo Terrorist Investigation Unit failed to do so on July 28.

Siridhamma Thera, who was arrested by the Colombo Terrorism Investigation Unit under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, was released on bail by court in November 2022.
