Jabbar Central, Galagedara bags third place at Boys under 14 football Tourney

Jabbar Central College, Galagedara in the district of Kandy, pocketed the third place defeating Maliyadeva Model School, Kurunegala by a solitary goal to nil in the Boys Samaposha under 14 All Island football Championship sponsored by Samaposha, organised and conducted by the Sri-Lanka Schools Football Association, played at the Race Course ground, Reid Avenue, Colombo-07 recently.

In the journey towards the title, Jabbar Central College, Galagedara easily progressed to the final of the Katugastota Zonal level, defeating Kandy Reformed College by 2 goals to nil to emerge as Champions in the district. These young lads with talent, passion, desire, and inspiration won the 2023 Schools Kandy district football Championship title of 14 years old.

Qualifying to the All Island from the Kandy district, which was held at the Urban Council ground, Dambulla, they beat Horawapathana, Ruwanweli National School by a margin of 6 goals to 1 and Wayamba, Royal College by 3 goals to nil in the first round matches.

In the pre quarter final, they beat Lyceum International College, Wattala by 3 goals to nil and in the quarter final, they beat St. Servatius College by 4 goals to nil, with their efficient performances showcased, qualified to the semi final. In an keenly contested semi final encounter, Jabbar Cental College, Galagedara lost to Kinniya Central College by a solitary goal to nil, which was the only defeat in the long series of matches. Playing for the decider of the 3rd place, they beat Maliyadeva Model School by a solitary goal to nil, scored in the final minutes of end of play in a thrilling contest.
