Jayamanne shines at Junior Athletic Trials

Jayamanne won first place in the 100m event to qualify for the World Junior Athletics Championships, which is scheduled to be held from August 17 to 22 in Kenya.

The 19-year-old athlete from Lumbini College, Colombo finished with a time of 11.85s having earlier qualified for the 200m at the World Junior Meet.

She will be the only Sri Lankan athlete to take part in two events in Kenya. Meanwhile, triple jumper Pasindu Malshan finished first with 15.75m and is likely to qualify for the World Junior Meet.
