Jet skiing ride ends in death
Panadura North Police said that a person riding a jet ski for fun in the Bolgoda Lake got tangled with a rope tied to the ferry running across the river and drowned yesterday (25).
Police said that the victim was a 42-year-old bachelor from Shriya Mawatha Diggala, Panadurathe. It was revealed that the deceased used to go jet skiing in the Bolgoda Lake near Ruskin Island on a regular basis.
Police said that while he was having a fun ride yesterday, he hit the rope tied to the ferry which ran across the river and drowned.
Area residents searched for the missing person using fishing boats and jet skis and found him about two hours later. The driver was brought on the Diggala ferry and taken to the Panadura Base Hospital in a three-wheeler. The man was already dead by then.
Under the direction of Panadura North Police Officer-in-Charge, Inspector Sanjeeva Lakmal, Sub Inspector R.W. Rankoth and Constable Amarasiri are conducting investigations.
