Jewellery worth Rs. 2 Mn stolen

Gold jewellery worth Rs. 2 million was stolen from a house in Arunagiri Road, Trincomalee, on Sunday (7) night.

The house belongs to a lecturer of the Eastern University.

The theft had taken place while the lecturer went out to dinner with his wife and daughter on Sunday, at around 9.00 pm, for about one-and- a-half hours.

A senior officer of the Trincomlee Harbour Police said that the burglars entered the house by breaking down the front door.
