Joes clinch under-18 cager title
St. Joseph’s College, Colombo emerged Sri Lanka Schools Under 18 “A division” Champions at the Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Tournament defeating Gateway International School, Colombo IN the finals held at Nalanda college on Sunday with a score of 63 points to 53. Methika Jayasinghe was adjudged as the Most Valuable Player and Abhay Gajamange was picked as the Best Offensive player”.

beat Gateway College, Rajagiriya (61-42), beat St. Benedict’s College, Kotahena (80-25), beat Mahinda College, Galle (49-28), beat Ananda College, Colombo (70-35), beat S Thomas’ College, Mount Lavinia (68-32) in the quarter finals and beat D. S. Senanayaka College, Colombo (69-40) in the semi finals. The champion team comprised Charaka Perera (Caption), Maneth Perera, Abaya Gajmange, Kavin D. Almeida, Methika Jayasinghe, Mareen Abishake, Darren Bernard, Adrian Wijayawardena, Adrian Gunasekara, Damketh Dammalage, Chamindu Wijesinghe, Methuka Karannagoda, Manish Perera and Aaron Gerald. They were trained by – Randima Sooriyarachchi and Shane Daniel.
Rev. Fr. Ranjith Andradi (Rector), Rev Fr. Samesh Anthony and Rev. Fr.Priyan Tissera (Prefect of Games), Rev. Bro. Srikanthan (Vice President of Sri Lanka Schools Basketball Association) were also presnt at the award ceremony.
