John Keells Properties launchViman with 7 Bn investment
John Keells Properties launched their latest residential development project ‘Viman’ in Ja-Ela with an investment commitment of over Rs. 7 billion.
President – Property Sector of John Keells Holdings PLC John Keells Properties, (JKP) Nayana Mawilmada, said that they will dismantle the Keells K Zone in Ja Ela and use the six acre land there for this development.
“With a diverse portfolio of groundbreaking developments including the Emperor, the Monarch, 7th Sense, OnThree20, TRI-ZEN, and the Cinnamon Life Integrated Resort, John Keells Properties, has consistently been at the forefront of the development of residential condominiums and this is the first time that we ventured out of Colombo and invested.”
“We will build 418 apartments and 10 blocks under this project which will commence at the end of the year. We hope to complete it in around three years.”
Asked if there would be a demand for ‘Viman’ with several unfinished and abandoned property developments in Sri Lanka which are likely to restart again he said they were very upbeat about this project. Built within a lush central garden, Viman boasts a range of amenities, including a swimming pool, gymnasium, meditation courts, clubhouse, a kids play area, cycling and walking spaces, and a multipurpose outdoor sports court, in addition to electric vehicle charging. “We will also install solar in the rooftops of all the apartment towers helping the residents to have a significant reduction in their electricity bill.”
Asked to comment on the total investment, Head of Sales and Marketing JKP Nadeem Shums said that the total land of six acres allocated for the project is worth around Rs. 2 billion and the construction cost would be over Rs. 5 billion.
“One of the prime reasons is the close proximity to Colombo Negombo road and the access to the elevated highway which connects the property with the North of Colombo.”
This strategic location not only enhances convenience but also ensures efficient travel for residents and businesses alike. He said that they expect local expatriates, foreigners (who now have no restrictions to purchase property) and Sri Lanka s to purchase this property which would go on sale at the end of the year.”
Viman is designed to provide a secure, family-friendly environment with convenient access to Colombo city, while retaining the charm of a small-town setting. Located in the heart of Ja-Ela, residents will enjoy easy access to an array of conveniences including supermarkets, banks, restaurants and hospitals.
