Judges’ salaries case: Interim Order stayed

0 4

The Court of Appeal yesterday decided not to further extend the interim order preventing the imposing of the PAYE (Pay as You Earn) tax on the salaries of judges.

This was decided based on the majority decision of a five-member CA Bench that considered three petitions filed against the levy of the tax.

But the five-member Bench unanimously decided to hear the petitions filed against the levying of that tax.

Accordingly, the Court of Appeal which ordered to issue notices for the respondents of those petitions, also ordered to file objections relating to the case before August 31.
