The Junior Table Tennis Tourney to mark the 5th Anniversary of St. John’s, Nugegoda will be held on July 2-3 at S. Thomas’ Gymnasium in Mt. Lavinia.
The tournament’s principal sponsor is Bertram Ekenaike and the Past Pupils Association of St. John’s College Nugegoda Australian Branch and they aim to uplift this sport throughout this type of tournament. Bertram is the President of the St. John’s Past Pupils Association’s Australia branch and an active businessman and keen sports promoter.
The former Table Tennis Association President Chandana Perera who is the main organiser of this tournament said Bertram Ekenaike, who is also a sports lover and owns a Cricket Academy in Australia is very keen to support the TT as well as his Alma mater St. John’s College, Nugegoda. Many Sri Lankan Players are benefited from this and play club cricket in Melbourne.
The events for boys and girls under 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, 17, and 19 singles will be conducted during the two days while after the finals the awards presentation will be conducted at the same venue.
The event will be conducted by the ‘82 Batch of the OBA of St. John’s College, Nugegoda in collaboration with the Western Province Table Tennis Association.
