Justice Minister presents appointments to 17 new translators

The Department of Official Languages presented appointment letters to 17 newly recruited translators during its International Translation Day ceremony held at the department’s auditorium today (30), under the patronage of Minister of Justice and National Integration Harshana Nanayakkara.

In addition to presenting the appointments, the Minister honoured three veteran translators for their service to the department and awarded prizes and certificates to university students who participated in a translation competition for degree candidates.

Delivering the keynote address, veteran translator Gamini Viyangoda highlighted the significance of the translation profession. Commissioner General of Official Languages Thilak Nandana Hettiarachchi and Ministry of Justice and National Integration Additional Secretary Samantha Wijesinghe also addressed the gathering.

The event was attended by officials from the Department of Official Languages, university students, and invited guests. (Newswire)
