K. Ravindran – veteran soccer player and referee

K. Ravindran, an old boy of Sri Sumangala College, Kandy is an outstanding football player and a Grade Two referee.

He represented his school as well as the Kandy Municipal Council Football Team from 1990 to 1996 playing as centre half.

He was a member of the victorious Kandy Municipal Council Football Team at the All-Island Government Service Soccer Tournament in 1996.

Some of his teammates at that time were S. A. Weerasinghe, W. A. Priyantha, M. Jamaldeen and E. Wijewardena with former MMC of the Kandy Municipality Hafiz Marikar as the Team Manager.

Ravindran was attached to the Kandy Municipality as a Community Centre Keeper and he showed his outstanding abilities as a football referee when he officiated in the Kandy District ‘A’ Division Tournament final between the Golden Stars SC, Deiyannewela and Hyline SC.

Ravindran has refereed in over 500 football matches since 1995 in Kandy, Gampola, Nawalapitiya, Mawanella, Kegalle, Matale, Colombo, Ruwanwella, Ratnapura, Badulla, Hatton, Nuwara Eliya and in Vavuniya.
