Kamidu Madushan clinches Boys’ 5km title

In a thrilling race at the Nestomalt All Island Schools Games Marathon in Galle last Saturday, Kamidu Madushan from Kamburawela National School emerged victorious in the boys’ 5km fun run.

Representing the Western Province, Madushan clocked an impressive 14 minutes and 58.7 seconds to secure the top spot. The second and third places were claimed by two talented boys from Walagedara Maha Vidyalaya of the Western Province. AA Kalhara finished in 15 minutes and 40.4 seconds for the second position, while Malindu Prabhanjana secured the third spot with a time of 15 minutes and 41.6 seconds.

The competition was intense, and the top 10 performers have been selected for the national pool. The list includes KHM Priya Kelum from Richmond College, who secured the fourth position, Binusara Udayanga from Siri Sugatha Ballaketuwa Maha Vidyalaya representing the Uva Province at fifth place, and TR Jayasinghe from Walagedara Maha Vidyalaya in the Western Province at the sixth position.

PP Nimsara from Sasanachandra Maha Vidyalaya in Elpitiya of the Southern Province claimed the seventh spot, followed by WA Dulnith from Vangiyakumbura Maha Vidyalaya (Uva Province) at eighth place. MJ Bimsara from Bandaranaike Central College in Gampaha (Western Province) secured the ninth position, and the tenth spot went to Akash Kaushika from Vidyaloka Vidyalaya Galle in the Southern Province.

These young athletes showcased their talent and dedication, earning their spots in the national pool after an exciting and competitive marathon event. (SJ)
