Kandy make 446 while Pushpakumara takes 7 for 120
Skipper Kamindu Mendis (94) and Lahiru Udara (83) added 151 runs fifth wicket stand as Kandy scored a challenging total of 446 all out while Dambulla scored 77 for 3 wickets at close of the second days play in their National Super League 4 day cricket fixture played at Pallekele International cricket stadium yesterday.
Kamindu already scored three centuries in this tournament was out six runs away his 4th century hit 9 fours and six in 189 ball innings while Lahiru Udara hit 9 fours in his 118 ball innings. Theexperienced leg spinner Malinda Pushpakumara who reached 800 first class wickets on first day finished best figures of the tournament taking 7 for 120 in his 43.5 over spell was the highlight of the day.
Dambulla in their first innings had a poor start with 19 for 3 wicket at one stage scoring 77 for 3 wickets with skipper Minod Bhanuka (37) and Ashan Priyanjan (19 ) added 58 runs fourth wicket unbroken stand at close of play .
Meanwhile Galle openers Pabasara Waduge (51) and Sangeeth Cooray (58) added solid open stand as Galle made strongly reply with scoring 113 for no loss after rain halted the game against Jaffna played at Mahinda Rajapaksa International Cricket Stadium yesterday. Earlier Jaffna scored 254 all out in their first innings while paceman Dilshan Madushanka 3 for 51 and leg spinner Suminda Lakshan 4 for 28 took bowling honours for Galle .
