Kandy Sports Club propelled by their run and pass game, enable them to a 21 points (3 tries, 3 conversions) to 7 (1 try, 1 conversion) win over Police Sports Club team in their Nippon Paint ‘A’ Division League Rugby tournament second round cup match played at Police grounds in Police Park yesterday, At half time Kandy led 14-0.

It was Kandy three quarters who paved the way for this victory. The Kandy ‘eight’ also gave a good display to outplay their famed counterparts in the loose.

The Kandy outfit went into halftime with a 14-0 lead, with tries coming from second row forward Kalhara Silva and full back Srinath Sooriyabandara.

Both the tries were converted by centre Tharinda Ratwatte.

In the second half, for the winners Kandy they scored through a penalty try. For the losing Police the solitary try was scored by flanker Vageesha Weerasinghe, while full back Kasun Suranga put over the conversion.
