Kandy Zone Three win by nine runs

In the under 15 Inter District Cricket Tournament – 2023 two matches were played. At Lake View Kandy Zone Three beat Kandy Zone Two by nine runs. In the game played at Poramadulla College Kandy Zone one beat Nuwara Eliya by nine wickets.

In the game at Lake View, Kandy Zone Three won the toss and elected to bat and went on to score 150 runs losing all the wickets in 48.4 overs, Kenula Philanga did well with the bat to score 62.Ishan Dodangolla and Kveesha Samatathunga took three wickets each. Kandy Zone two in the reduced twenty overs with a target of 84 runs were 75 for 3 in 20 overs

At Poramadulla Central College grounds, Nuwara Eliya won the toss and elected to bat and went on to score 111 PrabhagaranIshan did well in bowling to take 6 for 38 runs and in reply Kandy Zone I scored 113 for 1 in 19.3 overs, Gangana Lankeshwara 77 not out

Kandy mourns for Percy

Kandy’s cricket lovers are mourning the death of Percy Abeysekara, original cheer leader of Sri Lanka Cricket team will not be seen in future with the Sri Lanka flag. He died on Monday,aged 87. Whenever a Test match was played in Kandy he was seen with the national flag, he supported the Sri Lanka team in all test and one day matches played at Asgiriya Stadium and later at Pallekele. He was with Sri Lanka,team from the World Cup winning days of 1996 till about the mid 2010s.
