Karapitiya ETU X-ray machine out for months

Relatives of the patients have said that the X-ray machine of the Karapitiya Hospital’s Emergency Treatment Unit (ETU) has been out of order for several months now, but no steps have been taken to replace it.

When the Karapitiya Hospital Director S.D.U.M.Ranga was inquired in this regard, he said that the X-ray machine in the emergency unit has been out of order for about six months now, and the ministry has been asked to replace it on several occasions, but no steps have been taken to repair it so far. He mentioned that there are no trained technicians available in the hospital to repair this machine and trained technicians should come from Colombo to repair the machine.

The hospital director also mentioned that the X-rays of the patients brought to the emergency unit have been taken by X-ray machines in other departments of the hospital.
