Karateka Vihanga Gimhan does Madampe proud
Twelve year old Abraw Vihanga Gimhan de Silva has brought honour and glory for his two schools Sugathananda Vidyalaya, Kurukkuwa, Madampe and Senanayake National School Madampe with his performances in Karate Vihanga who hails from Madampe was born on 29th April 2010 and admitted to Sugathananda Vidyalaya Madampe in 2016 when Mr.Ranjith was the Principal and his first class teacher was Mrs.Mallika.In the meantime in 2016 his parents Chatura de Silva and Nilmini Jayalath made arrangements to hand over their son to school Coach M.Mallawarachchi and in his first year itself he received the White Belt and his first attempt was at the North Western Provincial Karate Meet and he came up to Best Eight and in the Puttalam District Karate Meet he won a Gold for Kumite and a Bronze for Kata at the under 8 age group in 2018 and in the following year in the under 9 age category at the NWP Meet he won a Gold and he had to keep away in 2020 due to Corona Pandemic.
Then in 2021 at the Global Virtual Online Karate Championship he won a Gold for Kumite and a Bronze for Kata in the under eleven age category and in the All Island Karate Championship in the same age group he grabbed a Bronze and in the National Kumite Virtual Karate Championship he received an Excellent Performance in Kata and in 2022 he joined Senanayake National School Madampe and came under Sugath Kumara and his Prefect of Games Mr.Chandana and the Principal Morris Atthanayake are always supportive of him.
