‘Kasippu Roshan’ shot dead at New Year musical show

One person was killed and another injured in a shooting that took place at a New Year’s celebration musical show in Dadalle, Galle on Saturday night.

The Police believe the killing was due to a dispute between two families said to be relatives regarding an illegal moonshine racket. The deceased Roshan (36) alias ‘Kasippu Roshan’ is a resident of Maha Mudali Mawatha, Dadella, Galle.

Investigations have revealed that the shooting was carried out by two persons who came on a motorbike.

“Another 18-year-old person was injured by this shooting,” Police said. The youth who was shot in the leg is being treated at the Karapitiya Hospital, Galle.

A senior Police officer said that two suspects involved in the murder have been identified. They are residents of Dadella and Gintota in Galle.

A senior Police officer said that the person who was killed had gone to several houses in the afternoon on Saturday and had assaulted some people and it appears that there is a connection between the shooting and the assaults. Police say that the main suspect in this murder is a brother of the murdered man’s wife.
