Kataragama Kiriwehera Maha Pirith Pinkama held

The annual Pirith Sajjayana organized by Sri Lanka Freedom Party for the 61st time was held yesterday (31) at the premises of the historic Kiri Vehera.

This all-night charity sermon was organized on the advice and guidance of Kiriwehera Chief incumbent Dr..Kobawaka Dhamminda Thero and the Sri Lanka Freedom Party was represented by Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries Mahinda Amaraweera, Minister of Ports and Civil Aviation Nimal Siripala de Silva, Minister of State Jagath Pushpakumara, Member of Parliament Duminda Dissanayake, Pandu Bandaranaike and many others were present.

Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa also participated in the Aloka Pooja held before the initiation of Pirith Sajjayana at Kiriwehera dagoba.

A Kapruk Pooja and a Mahasena Deva Pooja were also held before the start of the Pirith Sajjayana, which was attended by the Minister of Agriculture and Plantation Industries, Mr. Mahinda Amaraweera.

Also, there was a procession from Keeriwehera to Pirith Mandapaya to visit the relics and a large number of people joined it.

Minister Mahinda Amaraweera performed all the activities of this all-night pirith pinkama on behalf of the Sri Lanka Freedom Party.

The minister who expressed his views here started this annual Pirith Pinkama to wish the country and the people for the new year 2024 and also to pay tribute to all the leaders who have passed away from the Sri Lanka Freedom Party. Especially the two great Prime Ministers of this country, He also mentioned that this pilgrimage was organized in memory of Late Prime Ministers Mr.S.W.R.D, Bandaranaike and Mrs. Sirimavo Bandaranaike.
