Kathiravelu Shanmugam Kugathasan named to Sampanthan’s seat

Kathiravelu Shanmugam Kugathasan of the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) is slated to fill the Parliamentary seat which has fallen vacant upon the demise of former Opposition Leader and former Leader of TNA MP R. Sampanthan.

Kugathasan contested representing the Trincomalee district under the Tamil National Alliance at the last General Election and won 16,770 votes.

Accordingly, he will be sworn as the new Member of Parliament for the Trincomalee district next week.
