Kaushini and Shikari set up record 552 run opening stand for Anula
Anula College, Nugegoda openers Kaushini Nuthyanga and Shikhari Ranahansi established a new record for any wicket in the school cricket arena in Sri Lanka when they were involved in a massive opening partnership of 552 runs in 30 overs against Marapola Maha Vidyalaya in Marapola in the ongoing under 19 girls inter school cricket tournament.
Kaushani Nuthyanga the 14 year old right hander scored an unbeaten 374 in 133 balls with 52 fours and 19 sixes while Ranahansi the 19 year old left hander scored an unbeaten 116 with 10 fours and 4 sixes in 73 ball innings to set up record partnership of 552 runs . Marapola MV
managed to get 40 runs in just 14.1 overs with Anula recording a massive 512 runs victory in this record making game played at Marapola recently .
Meanwhile Chushadi Kaushalya of Dharmapala Pannipitiya scored an unbeaten 202 runs against Marapola MV in their first-round fixture The right-hand opener Kaushalya hammered her double century in 116 balls with 31 boundaries and 3 sixes which paved the way to get 61 runs victory for Dharmapala.
Defending champions Devapathiraja Rathgama scored a mammoth 588 runs against St. Anthony’s Panadura in their first round fixture in the Under-19 Girls Inter Schools Cricket tournament in Baddegama . Two centuries hit by Imesha Dulani 125, Kavya Kavindi 116 for Devapathiraja to build up 588 runs total while St Anthothy’s Panadura were shot out for
just 21 runs in just 10.2 overs to record a massive 557 runs victory for Devapathiraja.
Rathnawali MV batters Vishmi Gunarathne (197) and Sandali Weerasinghe(124) also scored centuries against Newstead Negombo in their game played at Sandalankawa. Ratnawali MV scored 408 for 3 wickets in 30 overs while Newstead managed to get 76 all out in 22.3 overs with Ratnawali recording an easy 332 runs victory.
In addition Navodya Nethmini, right-hander of Wadduwa Central College scored an unbeaten 201 (96b, 31×4, 3×6) against St. Anthony’s Girls School Panadura while Manudi Dulansa, left-hand opener of Princess of Wales Girl’s College Moratuwa scored an unbeaten 172 (102b, 18×4, 7×6) against Newstead Girls School Negombo.
Meanwhile newcomers to the tournament, Meegoda Maha Vidyalaya got off to a bright start of this tournament when they won their inaugural match against Seelarathana MV in Dombagoda. Meegoda MV recorded a thrilling one wicket victory over Seelarathana MV in this game . Seelarathana MV scored 251 all out in 28 overs while debutant Meegoda MV reached their target in 27. 3 overs with one wicket in hand eleven schools are participating in this tournament for the first time.and this is a good opportunity to find talented players from the schools.
