Kavindu fine cricketer and spiker

All round Right hand middle order bat, Right arm off spinner, Safe fielder, First eleven Cricket Captain 2022/23, Volleyball player SingakkuttiArachchilage Kavindu Dananjaya has brought honour and glory to his alma mater Sri Piyarathne Vidyalaya, Padukka in the field of sports.

Kavindu who was born on 9th July 2003 and hails from Bope Padukka was admitted to the Primary School of Sri Piyarathne Vidyalaya in 2009 and his first class teacher was Mrs.Preethika. During this period there were no sports activities and from his smaller days he had a liking to cricket and in 2014 he was admitted to the Senior School and in the same year his parents Buddhika Nayana Shantha and Thusharika Sandamali handed over their son to the Master in Charge Mr.Sham and School Cricket Coach former Nalandian Hiran Gunawardene and the Principal was Nihal Pathmasiri.

Same year he was selected for the under 13 division two team and scored 150 runs and captured 15 wickets with two five wicket hauls and in the following year he passed the 150 mark with 12 scalps and in his final year as the Vice Captain he got 200 runs with a fifty and claimed 15 wickets.

In his first year in the under 15 he passed the 250 mark with two fifties and grabbed ten wickets and in his second year he was the Vice Captain and got 200 runs and bagged 10 wickets. But he was not selected for the Prima Cup. He was a member of the H.G.Cricket Academy Meegoda and in 2018 he toured to Bangalore India with the under 15 team and played four matches and they were the Champions and it was a fine exposure for him.

When he came up to under 17 his Coach was Mr.Kusalindu and he scored over 250 runs with two fifties and bagged 15 wickets and in his second year there was no tournament due to Covid.

As an under 15 player he was selected for the first eleven pool and in the following year he passed the 200 mark with two fifties and took 15 wickets and in 2019/20season he passed the 300 mark with three fifties and captured 20 wickets. Then in the 2021 schools Limited Over Tournament he scored 250 runs and claimed 20 wickets and in the following year in the Limited over tournament in six outings he scored 140 runs and grabbed eight wickets and so far this season captaining the team he has scored 180 runs and taken ten wickets and his deputy is ManethPavan and his other coaches were Mr.Dinesh and Mr.Shammi. In addition he played for the school Volleyball team for under 13 and 15 age groups for two years each and his teacher in Charge is Mrs.Rosika and his present Principal HasanthaSanjeeva is supportive for Cricket.
