Kavithma Gowravi Liyanawaduge a promising athleteFourteen year old up and coming Athlete school under 12 and 14 Athletic Champion Divisional under 12 Athletic Champion, Provincial Bronze Medalist in 2018 and John Tarbet Junior Athletic Meet Merit holder Kavithma Gowravi Liyanawaduge has brought immense glory to her two schools Devapala College Polgolla and Defence College, Kurunegala with her deeds on the Athletic field

She was born on 30th July 2008. and was admitted to Devapala College in 2014 . When she was in grade five at the school Inter House Sports Meet she swept the board and became the under 12 Champion by winning 80 and 100 meters and Long Jump and in the Divisional Meet too she was the Champion by winning the same events. Then in the following year she was the under 14 Champion by winning her pet events and at the Divisional Meet she won the 100 and Long Jump events and came second in 80 meters

In the meantime her Parents Rohitha Dananjaya Liyanawaduge and Dilshani Chatumaduri Abeysundara noticing her talents, keenness and interest of their daughter in Athletics admitted their daughter to Defence College Wewagedara Kurunegala with the help of Mrs.Asoka Gunatikkele and the Principal D.A.Rathnayake and her Coach Sumedha Jayakody.

In her new school her first attempt was at the Zonal Meet she was unsuccessful in 80 metres but came third in Long Jump and at the Provincial Meet she did Long Jump and won a Bronze Medal. Then in the same year in 2019 at the Junior John Tarbet Meet in the under 12 age group she did 80 and 100 metres and Long Jump and the Merit Distance is 3.70 metres and her distance was 3.79 metres and received a Merit Certificate and in the All Island Schools Meet the qualifying distance was 4.15 metres and she did with 4.13 metres and she came up to Best Ninth. She was the under 14 School Champion by winning 80 and 100 metres and Long Jump and in the Divisional Meet she cleared 4.20 and won a Silver Medal. But she could not take part in the Zonal Meet due to Covid 19. Her in charge teachers are Mrs.Asoka Gunatilleke and Mrs.Danushi and the Coach is Sumedha Jayakody and the Principal D.A.Rathnayake is very supportive.
