Outstanding Kegalle Balika sportswomen were felicitated by Principal Chandima Tennakoon and the staff recently at the college premises .

The Principal Chandima Tennakoon said the students of the school are very dedicated while the teacher in charges and coaches of the respective games were committed to get success . Especially apart from the Academic work students are involved in games and their success always gives a big boost to their sports career said the Principal who always encourages the players to go forward.

Kegalle Balika Table Tennis players performed well and were under 18 A division champions and the B team reached the quarter finals at the All Island School TT champinship. Chameesha Thushadhi is under 17 ranked 5 th player while Navindi Seneviratne is ranked 7 in the under 17 and Sadunya Eshmini is ranked 5th in under 15 age category and this is a huge achievement by Kegalle Balika paddlers said the Principal

.Kegalle Balika is the only Sabaragauwa Province school to represent under 19 category at the All Island event Chamisha Thushadhi, Navindi Seneviratne, Sadunya Eshmini, Rasangika Madushani and Dilsha Devindi represented the Kegalle Balika Table Tennis team which was the only qualified Sabaragauwa Province team for All Island event .This team won bronze medal at under 19 category. Kegalle Balika Karatekas excelled while they emerged girls overall Champions taking seven silver medals at the All Island karate championships held recently.A.I.M Thillekaratne , C.D.J Hewawitharana, K.D.E.I Gunarilleka, S.P.A.D Wickramasinghe, N.I.S Wijesinghe and E.A.M.P Bandara were preformed well in Karate .

In addition under 19 and under 17 best chess players who represent Asian chess tourney. Tharusha Samadi Dassanayake ,Lawanya Ridmi Wijeratne and Thashmitha Dayadi Wickramasinghe are the best chess players of the school .The 52kg weight class Jodo gold medal was won by Hansi Kawshalya Fernando of Kegalle Balika.

I.M.K.C Herath the vice principal of extra curricular activities, Chethana Kariyawasam (karate MIC), Chamipika Nandanamenike, Maliki Dilrukshi (Chess MIC) , Poornima Kaushalya Nawaratne ( Judo MIC) and TT MIC Thusitha Somaratne did excellent work to get success while karate Coach Mahinda Rajakaruna ( Karate coach), Jagath Kotalawala (Chess coach), Prageetha Tharangi Karunaratne ( Jodo coach ) and Harshana Karadawala (TT coach) were also felicitated at the ceremony.
