The Colombo District Court yesterday issued an injunction against Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha (PS) and its Secretary and Officer for the Implementation of the Powers of the Council preventing from vacating the temporary shops built on both sides of the Dalugama Tyre Corporation Road.
The order was delivered by Colombo Chief District Judge Sandun Withana.
The petition was filed by seven vendors who are engaged in the business in that area. At a previous occasion, the Colombo District Court issued an order to vacate the seven temporary shops built on both sides of the Dalugama Tyre Corporation Road.
The petitioners said that they are engaging in the business since 1980s and they had also obtained the approval from the former Pradheshiya Sabha Chairman to continue the business.
The petition has also says that a payment also had been paid to the Kelaniya Pradeshiya Sabha for the shops there. The case will be taken up again on September 27.
Attorney Sudarshana Wickramaratne appeared for the aggrieved vendors.
