Kidney transplant racket broker further remanded

A broker arrested by the Colombo Crimes Division (CCD) in connection with the alleged Kidney transplant racket at a private hospital in Borella was ordered to be further remanded till December 28 by Colombo Additional Magistrate Rajindra Jaysuriya yesterday.

The Magistrate also ordered the Prison Authority to produce the suspect for an identification parade on January 3.

The identification parade has not conducted yesterday due to the absence of the witnesses. The CCD had earlier stated that the suspect had targeted individuals from poverty stricken families promising them money in return for their kidneys after transplanting them to the seekers of kidneys at a leading hospital in Colombo.
