MP Wimalaweera Dissanayake stated that no matter where people die, the killing of people because of war cannot be accepted. He said that when considering the brutal face of the war, it is clear that humanity in the whole world is dying day by day. He stated this while attending a media conference held yesterday (18) at the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) headquarters.

Dissanayake stated that a group of people also worked against Mahinda Rajapaksa, who saved lives by ending a war. Addressing the media, Dissanayake further said that whether the people die in Israel or Palestine or any other country, it cannot be accepted as no one can trust the power of weapons.

“These days the major news is the war between Palestine and Israel. It has been reported that there is a large number of Sri Lankans in Israel. We should intervene as a country to protect their lives. The ministries and institutions that are responsible should attend to this. Unfortunately, we cannot control the conflict. It is something that is out of our control. People there will face the scarcity of water and food soon,” he said.

He further added that when a war begins, justice and truth both die first.

“I am not talking about which side is innocent in this war. But humanity in the whole world is dying day by day. Therefore, thousands of innocent children and women die daily due to someone’s wrong decision,” he said.

“Whether people die in Israel or Palestine or whether they die in Russia or Ukraine, they die because of cruelty,” the SLPP MP said.

While recalling his dark memory relating to LTTE brutalism he said that In 1997, 28 children were killed when the LTTE attacked Gonagala village in Ampara district. On that day, 52 dead were buried at the same time in the same burial ground in Gonagala village.
