KJP doubtful for T20I and ODI series

Former Skipper and wicket-keeper batsman Kusal Janith Perera (KJP) is a doubtful starter for the upcoming T20I and One Day International (ODI) series against India due to a prevailing long-standing injury on his right shoulder.

It was noticeable that KJP was under severe pain and discomfort at practices the last few days.

After inspection by the team physiotherapist, it was recommended that he will need at least four to eight weeks rest to recover.

Nevertheless, Kusal was injected with a pain killer yesterday and a final decision on his fitness and availability will be known today after a further assessment.

In the event he is unable to play, the National Selectors have the option of obtaining the services of Minod Bhanuka or Lahiru Udara, who are both wicket-keeper batsmen. (AN)
