Korean E8 work category under study to make it legal – SLBFE Chairman

0 0

Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment (SLBFE) Chairman Koshala Wickramasinghe states that the recruitment and sending of Sri Lankans to work in South Korea under the Korean E8 work category is currently being studied closely and the possibility of making it legal will be explored.

He says that the agreement signed in the past in this regard is illegal and the relevant circulars issued have been canceled.

The jobs with E8 visa belong to the Seasonal Jobs category, and it gives the opportunity to work in the agriculture and fisheries sector in Korea for about five months. Since the agreement signed in the past regarding these jobs is not diplomatic, it has been rejected by the Korean Embassy.

Accordingly, the circular issued on September 3 of this year under the signature of a former Sri Lanka Bureau of Foreign Employment Chairman has been canceled again on September 23.

Accordingly, there is no legal validity for these jobs at this time, and the allegations made by various parties in recent days are untrue, the chairman declares.

The concerned parties have accused the bureau that these job opportunities have been lost at present.

Koshala Wickramasinghe emphasises that these allegations are false and the agreement was not enforced, and the employment opportunities were not legal.

Meanwhile, it has been reported that certain employment agencies are collecting money and collecting passports for these jobs, which is illegal, he says.

He also requested people to refrain from giving money or passports to such persons or institutions.
