Kurunegala SJB organiser arrested with heroin

A person who is said to be the organizer of the Kurunegala District Youth Committee of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Party was arrested yesterday (20) afternoon at Rambukkana by a group of officers of the Kegalle Division Criminal Investigation Department with 770 grams of heroin in his possession. The suspect is a 35-year-old resident of Mawathagama in the Kurunegala district.

He claims that he is engaged in business activities. It is reported that the suspect was arrested with a group of his friends while travelling to Kurunegala from Kegalle via Rambukkana.

A Montero SUV vehicle and a Prius car in which they were travelling have also been taken into Police custody. It is also said that the owner of both these vehicles is the politician.

Police found the heroin hidden in the SUV he was travelling in.

The suspect was appointed as the organizer of SJB Kurunegala District Youth Association a few months ago.
